RE: Live each day as if it were your last

I know the pain you feel.. my heart goes out to you..three years ago the same thing happened to me.. my husband kissed me goodbye, jumped on his bicycle to ride to work.. got hit by a man high on meth in a flatbed lumber truck.. life as I knew it changed in a heartbeat, as did yours. I am glad to hear you are trying to continue enjoying the things you and your wife enjoyed.. I know it sounds like a cliche.. but time truly does help to heal your broken heart. Try to take it one day at a time... best of luck to you. Donna

RE: 29 to Omaha

The campground that was mentioned in the earlier response to your question was flooded a couple of weeks ago... don't know what condition it is in now... but probably lots of mosquitos! There is a beautiful KOA on 29 about 60 miles north of Omaha.. nice lake.. very clean bath house.. nice pool...lots of shade.. There really isn't much on 29 until you get to Sioux City. Have a nice trip...

Brrrrr... where do you spend the winter?

For the first time my new husband and I will be going south for the winter... where do you like to go and why? How do you go about making reservations when you have never been there? We are from the midwest, so we have the option of going east, west or south Texas...I have spent many weeks in Arizona in the winter, but never in an RV.. the weather was amazing! We have some brutal winters in Nebraska.. heck.. we've had a brutal spring and summer, so far! This will be a fun adventure for us.. he is retiring in a couple of weeks.. and we will be doing a lot of traveling.. the best way there is.. RVing!

RE: RVQ grill and side of trailer getting hot

I too have the grill... but I can't help but think the manufacturers of RVs would not want the liability if there was a big chance of damage. Maybe that is giving them too much credit!

RE: Truck hits RV on side of road

I know there is what seems to be a reasonable explanation for a sleepy driver behind the wheel of what can be a lethal weapon given the right set of circumstances... only AFTER you have lost the most important person in your life do you fully understand there is NO good excuse for driving impaired... would you defend someone who was drunk?? Impaired is impaired... no excuses! My husband of 40 years was hit and killed by a driver who was sleepy and on meth...jobs.. paychecks.. things can be replaced... loved ones are gone forever!

RE: Class C with tag axle

I had one on my previous MH... it was supposed to improve the ride... I don't know what it would have been like without it... it did make replacing tires cost a lot more! they are very rare...

camping tragedy

Tonight a Boy Scout camp in Little Sioux Iowa was struck by a tornado... early reports are that 4 were killed along with numerous injuries... please keep these families in your prayers. Also... let this be a reminder that we are vulnerable when camping.. when the weather looks ominous, take heed! This has been a deadly tornado season in the midwest.. my home was spared in the recent tornado that struck Omaha.. my neighbors home was badly destroyed along with hundreds more.

RE: I DID it! Drove the MH

I started with the pop-up... even backed it into the garage with about a foot of clearance on each side... then we moved up to a huge class A... I drove it while my DH rode his bicycle across Nebraska and later Iowa... and shared the road with thousands of bicylists! Then he died... I sold the MH... thought I would never use again... I recently bought a new class C... I drive it with no fear! Learn while you still a teacher... some day you might have no choice! I am getting married soon and will be traveling from coast to coast! Life is Good!

RE: Dishwasher Detergent in black tank?

It seems like if it is liquid to start with it wouldn't need to break down too much.. it doesn't seem to hurt the seals in my dishwasher... sounds liike a good idea to me...

RE: Anybody flat tow a Ford ranger PU?

I am watching your feedback... I too am planning on towing a Ranger... according to the owners manual you can tow it as long as it does not have 4wd..I have the manual transmission... it should be ok. The towing guide online also says it can be towed with no restrictions on speed.

RE: LCD TV Mount

I have 2 LCD TVs in my motorhome... make sure you get the kind that can tilt... because if you want to sit on the couch or lay in bed and watch... it needs to be adjusted for the right angle or you can't see it properly...

Honeymoon in Wisconsin

I am getting married in Sept.. we would like to go to Wisconsin for a short honeymoon..we will not be camping for this once in a lifetime trip...we are both in our late 50's... we are not looking for the latest waterpark.. but if you have any suggestions for a nice location to stay.. preferably waterfront.

RE: BROWN COUNTY INDIANA

This is the exact reason I opted for seasonal camping! I can still camp other locations when I want to... but in the Omaha area.. there is such a huge shortage of good camping spots.. you have to pay for days that you are not going to be there.. just to get a spot on the weekend. I have my spot on the lake.. or use the pool.. on the fourth of July and every other busy weekend!

RE: how do you ignore the pesty fellow camper/neighbor

Holy Cow!! Some of you guys are rude... if they are alone.. they are probably lonesome... put yourself in their shoes. Talk awhile.. and then lie if you need to! But don't hurt their feelings... they have had that done many times already, I am sure.

RE: Which pickups are towable?

The owners manual of the 2008 Colorado/2wd automatic says it cannot be towed 4 down... the 4 wd can...

RE: Is there such a thing as a short Gasser Class C with slide?

My Jayco Melbourne comes in a 26 ft- but I don't know if it has a slide or not.. I love my 29footer.. it has 2 slides... I hope I don't actually love it more than my grandkids..:h That would not be good!!

RE: Go...No Go...Do you let weather dictate your camping plans?

Sooo.. you go anyway... it rains for three days straight.. what do you find to do? You can only do certain things for so long.. and then you have to find something else.. maybe I need to learn to be a little more creative.. we went a couple of times when it rained.. we went to the Casino and spent too much $$$$... so, my long answer is NO.. I would opt for plan B... Shopping!!!:B spoken like a woman, I know!

RE: Stove or Microwave Coffee? Mystery Solved!

Hmm.. wouldn't matter to me... I just can't do the instant stuff... or maybe that wasn't what you were referring to... good coffee=good camping.. well.. I know you guys would throw a couple of other things in there too!! :-)
